Threatening letter sent to Merrylands Police Station... 'Thousands will die'.

OCTOBER 13, 2015. (11:44 am)

Two terror threats have been made in Sydney with both a police station and a popular shopping centre targeted only a day after a school was placed on high alert.

NSW Police have confirmed they are investigating a threatening letter which was received at Merrylands Police Station today with a separate threat to Penrith Plaza being posted on online site 4Chan.

The letter sent to Merrylands Police Station contains threats of violence against 'non-Muslims', according to Ray Hadley, who broke the story on Tuesday morning.

His 'tip-off' claimed the letter warns "thousands will die" in attacks on Jewish schools and NSW Police stations.

He also reported that an image of an 'Islamic-State' extremist with an array of severed heads accompanied the letter.

In a separate threat a "warning to my people in Sydney" was posted to online site 4Chan along with an image of Penrith Plaza claiming there would be an attack at 10am on Tuesday.

"My Australian friends and family, I have decided I will go out with a bang (quite literally)," the post read.

Police confirmed they were aware of the threat, to Yahoo7 News, that a threat was made to the social media website and said there would be an increased police presence.

The post, which mimics the style and content of a similar message posted before a recent mass shooting in Oregon, is the second of its type in as many days.

NSW Police on alert after second 4chan threat in two days.

OCTOBER 13, 2015. (11:17 am)

There is an increased police presence at Penrith Plaza after a second threat in two days was made on anonymous image-board website 4chan.

Police have confirmed to Yahoo7 News that a threat was made to the social media website on Monday, warning people there would be an attack at 10am on Tuesday.

"Warning to my people in Sydney", the post was headlined, along with an image of Penrith Plaza.

"My Australian friends and family, I have decided I will go out with a bang (quite literally). I advise you not to go to Penrith Westfield tomorrow. As I will be there at 10:00am (AEDT) Tuesday 13th October. I have a gun and unfortunately I am going to use it. Good luck and Allah be with you".

The threat comes just a day after the University of New South Wales was made aware of a threat made on 4chan to the safety of staff and students on the Kensington campus.

"I finally managed to get a handgun. Australians, if you study at UNSW don’t go in tomorrow", read the disturbing threat that prompted an increased police presence at the university.

An anonymous message posted on 4chan last week, appeared to warn students about the deadly Oregon college shooting.

The message, which appeared the night before the attack at Umpqua Community College, warned students to avoid going to school the following day.

University of New South Wales liaising with anti-terrorism officers.

OCTOBER 12, 2015. (12:21 pm)

The University of New South Wales is liaising with 'anti-terrorism-officers' following a security threat made against its Kensington campus on social media.

"UNSW has been made aware of a threat to the safety of staff and students on the Kensington campus", a statement posted on the university's Facebook page said.

"We are treating this incident seriously and have been liaising with the NSW Police through the 'anti-terrorism' and security group and Local Area Command. Police are advising this is a general, not a specific or direct threat".

Police have confirmed they are investigating comments made on social media regarding the university in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

"Police are working with the university regarding this matter, and will be at the facility throughout the day", a statement said.

A disturbing threat was posted by an anonymous user on 4chan on Sunday, said, "I finally managed to get a handgun. Australians, if you study at UNSW don’t go in tomorrow".

A university spokesman told AAP that the Kensington campus had received a threat on the online bulletin board early on Monday morning.

An anonymous message posted on 4chan last week, appeared to warn students about the deadly Oregon college shooting.

The message, which was said to have been posted on 4chan the night before the attack at Umpqua Community College, warned students to avoid going to school the following day.

"Some of you guys are alright", the message began, "Don't go to school tomorrow if you are in the northwest. Happening thread will be posted tomorrow morning, so long space robots".

Classes are still continuing at UNSW and staff and students have been advised that they will be updated when more information is available.

"The campus has not been evacuated at this stage and classes are continuing as normal but those who would prefer to leave campus will not be penalised", read a second statement posted on the UNSW Facebook page.

"We will update staff and students when more information comes to hand".

The university, earlier, made a post to social media encouraging students to download their StaySafe security app, which provides updates on campus security alerts.

They also reminded students to, "Remain vigilant about security and report any suspicious individuals or activities, incidents or crime in progress to UNSW Security Services", in a message emailed out to students and posted on social media.

A student from UNSW posted on Facebook, "It's a scary thought that one can't even walk through uni or to the coffee shop or anywhere without the fear of this".

Anyone with information is being urged to come forward and speak to police.
